What we can help with
- Questions about how the free MOT and vehicle check on this site works
- Reporting an error or out-of-date detail in our guidance so we can correct it
- Clarifying which insurance check applies to your situation
- General feedback or suggestions for the site
What we cannot help with
We are an independent information service, not an insurer, broker or government body. That means we are unable to:
- Change your insurance record. Only your insurer can add or amend your entry on the Motor Insurance Database.
- Change MOT or tax records. These are held by DVSA and DVLA respectively; contact the test centre or the DVLA.
- Look up who owns a vehicle. Registered keeper details are not publicly available and are released only to applicants with reasonable cause under the Road Traffic Act.
- Tell you whether another person's vehicle is insured. That check is restricted to accident claimants and must be made through the official askMID service.
- Provide legal, insurance or financial advice. For advice on a claim or a motoring offence, speak to a qualified professional.
Urgent matters
If you have been involved in a road traffic collision, contact the police and your own insurer first. If you have received an Insurance Advisory Letter or a penalty notice, contact your insurer or the issuing authority directly — do not wait for a reply from us.
